THE ED TUTTLE COLLECTION FOR JIM THOMPSON

1. MAIA
The Maia armchair combines traditional and contemporary elements. Although the chair is formed on simple lines of its shapely wooden frame, its back curves and culminates with an outward curl, giving a neoclassical feel.

The frame comes in a choice of three woods: rich, glossy ebony, light understated beech or strikingly striated zebrano. When the chair is made of zebrano, its decorative, neoclassical qualities come to the fore. However, because its overall shape is clean and graceful, the chair also has a distinctly contemporary air whilst still harking back to a distinctively classical era.

2. The Lite Collection
The Lite Collection which takes the form of a sofa, chaise longue, meridian, armchair and ottoman — has an architectural and geometrical feeling. On all permutations, the wooden frame, available in beech and zebrano, curls outward subtly yet decoratively and forms an elegant frame around the backrest and armrests. The upholstery on these pieces is more structured, lending the pieces a slightly austere, elegant, and contemporary aesthetic. The upholstery is raised with a gentle arch that lends a curvaceous form, especially in the armchair and ottoman, thereby alluding to a classical style without overstating it.

3. CIEL
The Ciel Collection by contrast to the others is a more modern modular approach. Ciel is an ensemble of sofa, meridian, armchair and ottoman. It is also available as a custom modular upon request.

The linear and almost cubic elements of the form instantly make the collection look more contemporary. The subtle metal feet made of wafer-thin brushed stainless sheets lightens the mood and give the pieces a floating appearance.

4. SAN
San is a collection of perfectly proportioned side tables- stainless steel legs that gleam with a mirror-smooth quality which are adorned with a variety of marble and granite tops. Again, true to the confident manner whereby he juxtaposes old and new, Tuttle has pitted traditional luxury against streamlined modernity by combining white marble with stainless steel.

5. X
X is the elegantly skeletal, crisply geometric X side table in sleek polished aluminium. The slimline X table is conveniently lightweight. Its barely visible silhouette is however deceptive as the X shape makes it much more sturdy and robust than it looks.
